The Book Of Right-On was originally released by Joanna Newsom on her 2004 album The Milk-Eyed Mender. It is a lyrically abstract song that presents a series of scenes that are vaguely related. This is an incredible version from Anna-Maria that is as quirky as the original but with its own unique voice. As with the original this version is performed on harp and vocals by a solo artist but this version has Anna-Maria adding overtone singing during the parts that were instrumental in the original. If you haven’t heard polyphonic singing before then this track is an excellent introduction that is easily accessible to any taste of Western music from popular to avant-guarde classical.
