Çanakkale Türküsü [A Ballad for Chanakkale] is a Turkish folk song. It tells the story of a soldier who goes to war, fighting for Turkey at the Battle of Gallipoli during World War I, and the bloodshed, with the singer dying and being buried under Willow trees. In this version Gülçin sings only 3 of the verses: concerning going to war; that some soldiers are engaged, some married; and being shot and buried. This is a beautiful and reverent rendition of the song where Gülçin expresses the sorrow and futility of war, even to those who don’t understand Turkish.
