Dasha Volosevich – 5 Minut [5 Minutes]

Dasha Volosevich is a young Russian singer and actress.  She is a member of the Production Centre Ecole and first came to public attention in 2015 when her cover of Victor Tsoy's song Kykyshka (Cuckoo) received over 5 million views.

 

5 Minut [5 Minutes] was originally released by Rauf & Faik on their 2018 album Ya Lyublyu Tebe [I Love You]. It is about the last 5 minutes spent with a lover before the final split, where the singer reminds them that they said their love would not stop blooming. It is a slow,  mournful track where Dasha wrenches every ounce of emotion from the lyrics and makes you feel the sadness, even without understanding the words. In this version Dasha accompanies herself on the piano in a much more subtle manner than the original which puts greater emphasis on her amazing vocals. In the video the singers inner thoughts are represented in interpretive dance by the talented Alina Oleynikova.
