Emma Marie is a young singer, songwriter, musician, and actress from the USA. She started writing song shortly after taking up the guitar when she was only 9 years old and won her first singing competition in 2014 with 2 of her original songs. Early in 2016 she recorded her first single, with young English guitarist Lucy Gowen, despite not actually meeting in person until they appeared on the British TV show Little Big Shots UK in 2017. She has also had roles in several musical theater productions.
The Power of Love was originally released by Huey Lewis and the News as part of the soundtrack of the 1985 movie Back to the Future, as a single the same year, and was included on their 1986 album Fore!. It is a song about love, how it can make you happy, how it can make you sad, that you don’t have to be rich or famous to fall in love, which is all a part of the power of love. This is a great version from the girls, with Lucy playing a Gowen Guitars T-Type guitar, which she built herself, that has a great sound that really suits her playing. Emma and Lucy give this song their own treatment with a stronger rock feel, especially with Lucy‘s guitar work, than the original, and they work excellently together despite being on different sides of the Atlantic.
