Suliko is a Georgian poem written by Akaki Tsereteli in 1895 and was set to music by Verinka Tsereteli the same year, it became very popular in Soviet countries and has been performed many times. It is about looking for the grave of your sweetheart, Suliko, and asking for help from a rose and a nightingale. This is an incredibly beautiful solo performance from Mariam Jalagonia at the New Wave Junior 2018 competition on the first day of competition. This is an upbeat rendition that mixes a number of styles together making the song easily accessible to modern audiences, clearly impressing the judges who gave it 1 point short of a perfect score.
